Tim’s 12 Tags of 2012

Tim Holtz has called it a day on the 12 Tags of Christmas – and I was kind of expecting that.  I felt last year’s tags lacked a certain something.  Still – he has come up with an alternative.

He intends to do a technique tag per month.  His first tag (he is still to catch up on January) is for February and uses honeycomb paper in a Valentine theme.  I am not big on Valentines seeing as I get the same big fat nothing that I get every year, lol.  I knew I had some honeycomb paper hiding somewhere and it took me a while to find it.

Mine is two-toned and not in lovey-dovey colours but I like the end result anyway.

DragonsDream Tag It On

I have been a bit slow getting back into the tag challenges this year.  None the less – I have made one for for may favourite tag site Dragons Dream Tag It On.

The theme is an inspiration from the book title “Birdsong” set in WW1.

I don’t know the book at all so perhaps I may look for it on my next library run.

One Word, One Technique

Shell introduced me to this project/challenge site after I expressed the “need” to have an on-going project but one that did not rely heavily on photos (I just don’t get that many).

The introduction to the project can be found here but basically each month there is a technique to use and each week a word with which to play.

Here are my efforts for January. I am not 100% pleased with all of them really. I don’t think this technique is my “thing”.

Technique : Paint Word: Resolutions

Picture 115

I painted the base card (6x4) with blue, used two separate masks (compass and sentiment) and over painted with a green and a white. Then edged the card with yellow paint. It was supposed to look grungy but I think it just looks messy/dirty.

Technique: Paint Word: Today

Picture 116

I painted the base card with a Bronze metallic paint and when dry used Picket Fence Crackle Paint over the top. Sentiment printed on the computer.

Technique: Paint Word: Relax

Picture 117

I painted the base card with “stripes” of metallic water-colour paint that has been sitting un-used forever! Sentiment printed on the computer.

Technique: Paint Word: Go

Picture 118

I covered the base card with patterned paper and used a die-ct from the Silhouette as a mask. I then painted lightly with white, doodled the shape and added the die-cut words of the shape on top.

I missed week 5 - Wish and the extra one - Proud but hope to catch p on those at some stage.

The technique for February is Stamping so, watch this space…….
